Community archaeology & public engagement

Since 2016 the Amarna Project has placed greater emphasis on developing relationships with local communities and on sharing appealing and accessible resources with all those interested in the ancient site and its ongoing story.

We try to do this through public workshops, activities and open days, both on site and in partnership with colleagues from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities at the Amarna Visitor Centre, as well as by working with international partners. Methodologies drawn from community/public archaeology are important to make sure we are doing this effectively and ethically. We hope that by working collaboratively with local people, from school children to elders, that we can better represent a diverse range of voices and ideas about Amarna and what it means to people today. This is important in everything we do, from the development of site signage and learning resources to how we choose future excavation locations and develop our site management plans. منذ عام 2016، ركز مشروع تل العمارنة بشكل أكبر على تطوير العلاقات مع المجتمعات المحلية وعلى مشاركة الموارد الجذابة والمتاحة مع جميع المهتمين بالموقع القديم وقصته المستمرة.

نسعى لتحقيق ذلك من خلال ورش عمل عامة وأنشطة وأيام مفتوحة، سواءً في الموقع أو بالشراكة مع زملاء من وزارة السياحة والآثار المصرية في مركز زوار تل العمارنة، بالإضافة إلى العمل مع شركاء دوليين. تُعد المنهجيات المستمدة من علم الآثار المجتمعي/العام مهمة لضمان قيامنا بذلك بفعالية وأخلاقية. نأمل أن نتمكن، من خلال العمل التعاوني مع السكان المحليين، من أطفال المدارس إلى كبار السن، من تمثيل مجموعة متنوعة من الآراء والأفكار حول تل العمارنة وما تعنيه للناس اليوم بشكل أفضل. هذا مهم في كل ما نقوم به، بدءًا من تطوير لافتات الموقع وموارد التعلم وصولًا إلى كيفية اختيار مواقع التنقيب المستقبلية ووضع خطط إدارة الموقع. إذا كانت لديكم أفكار حول الموقع ترغبون في مشاركتها، أو اقتراحات لفعاليات مشاركة عامة مستقبلية، يُرجى التواصل معنا عبر البريد الإلكتروني
